Darien Lake announced last month that they will be adding a new Zamperla Motocoaster to the park for 2008. This will be the same prototype coaster that was set up outside the Zamperla factory. Park World Magazine says that this will be the first installed Motocoaster, but it looks like it will be a race to see whether Darien Lake or Knotts Berry Farm can get there ride running first.

It looks like a nice Family coaster. Should prove to be a solid addition for DL they need some new rides. but Zamperla isn't the best coaster company so Who knows if this coaster will be any good.

What you need to do is get a small group together and rent a van. Then split the cost. I normally go on park trips with friends and Family then split gas and food. eat a lot of pizza.

In all honesty, I really wouldn't get all wet over this coaster.
Although Darien Lake is my homepark, I'm only MILDLY looking forward to this coaster. It's a step in the right direction. The location is good because it's where the old Darien Square pools were, which was basically useless since they put in the pools by the hotel which I think can be used by campground guests too. The only issue I have is how the coaster is pretty much identical to the original prototype model including the same paint-job (I know it's the same coaster, but I assumed it would get a mild make over). The theming looks like none... and looks like it they just filled in the pools and is putting the coaster over cement, giving it a sort of 'carnie-porta-coaster' feel (not good). It really probably isn't worth over a 2hr drive to a day-trip @ Darien Lake unless you are passing through the area, or are making concert plans or camping plans for the campground. |

I think what it will have going for itself is that is the only Motocoaster out there (except Pony Express on the West Coast). I was planning a Darien Lake trip sometime this summer just to try this out. Plus the admission price is pretty good at $30. Now will I go back just for MotoCoaster, probably not. Just a one time thing.

That's the big thing. unlike coasters like Mind Bender, Superman, and Boomerang. motocoaster is not a common coaster. It gives them something unique. That a lone presents value. Even it if is a carnival like coaster.
